can i just replace an internal hard drive on a Desktop PC and install a new OS?
Im Trying to build a PC from scratch, i love linux, and i just want a decent PC for school. i have puppy linux on an OLD asus desktop. runs well, but id like to replace the HD and add more memory. can i just buy memory and put it in? same with the hard drive?
that can all be done, adding ram will help to make your system run smother and preform much better than it does now, as for the hard drive personally i would just add a second hard drive for more storage capacity and then as it was pointed out above there is no need to reformat your existing drive and reinstall you software and all the other associated items that are removed with a format ( drives, system/software updates )
